Are GOLD BARS good for investment over 2-5 years timespan ?

I am from INDIA. My daughter is less than 1 year old and I want to make an investment in GOLD (BARS) for her future. I am thinking of buying GOLD BARS of 100 grams now. Say if I take a time span of 2-5 years and say if I purchase now gold in INDIA at a price of 867/- Rupees per gram and sell after 2-3 years then can I expect decent returns on my investment. The returns I am looking at are min. of 15% on per gram of gold per annum. Is my assumption correct? Can anybody suggest?
